ELF Camo CC Cream Review
CC Creams are not something new to the world of makeup, but when I read about e.l.f.’s Camo CC Cream SPF 30 and how it was being called an alternative or “dupe” for my beloved IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Butter CC + Cream SPF 50+, I knew I need to get my hands on this products and test it out!
The e.l.f. Camo CC Cream SPF 30 is not currently available in Canada; I picked it up while I was in the USA for the holidays at Ulta. As an overview, the e.l.f. Camo CC Cream is available in 20 shades (7 warm, 8 neutral, and 5 cool undertones), $15 USD/19 CAD, 1.05 oz/30g, $0.50 USD/0.63 CAD per oz/g. On the other hand, IT Cosmetics CC + Cream SPF + is available in 12 shades (7 warm, 3 neutral, and 2 cool undertones), $42 USD/53 CA, 1.08 fl oz/32 ml, $1.31 USD/1.66 CAD per fl oz/ml. Looking head to head, e.l.f.’s CC Cream is much more affordable, and the shade selection has a few more shades, and in my experience, e.l.f.’s undertones are better for my skin tone.
As far as colour matching, I purchased the e.l.f. Camo CC Cream in Fair 150 C and the undertone is good, but the shade is 1-1.5 shades too dark, which makes me think Fair 125 C would be a better shade match, and it’s on my list to pick up next time I am at Ulta. As far as the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream… in my review of this product, I mentioned that at the time, I had shades Fair (W), Fair-Light (C), and Light (W) in my collection as a result of being matched to shade Light (W), which is far too dark (but fantastic when I have a fake tan), so I purchased shade Fair (W), which is about half a shade too light and far too warm/yellow for the longest time. I mixed the two shades for a decent match until shade Fair-Light (C), as it looked to be what I was hoping to achieve by mixing shades, and the undertone theoretically should have been ideal. Still, it’s half a shade too dark, and it is more orange vs pink in its undertone.
